I hope you have an amazing holiday season, filled with celebrations. If you’re someone who loves to entertain, make sure to check out page 2 for the top features every entertainer’s home should have.

Know someone who is wanting to sell or buy a house? Then give them the gift of the most educated Real Estate team! Every time you refer us to someone, you're helping SickKids. Turn to page 3 to see how SickKids made a difference in Everest's and his family's life.

Lastly, if you're feeling generous, the best gift you could give us is writing us a Google review.

What to Look For in a Perfect Entertainer's Home

Do you love to entertain but feel held back by your home’s capabilities? As prime hosting season, the holidays can become a stressful time for those who love to entertain but are lacking the space. Here are the top features that turn a house into an entertainer’s paradise.

1. Large kitchen island

A large kitchen island is the top multipurpose feature that every entertainer’s home needs. It creates a space for those who are cooking to chat with the guests and it can also pull double-duty as a serving station. As a bonus, a kitchen island serving station allows for warming dishes and slow cookers to be plugged in.

2. Ample sitting areas

One of the key elements of an entertainer’s home is plenty of space for people to chat, mingle and relax. A living room with space for two couches is a great feature but a family room with additional seating will bring it to the next level.

3. Welcoming entryway

An inviting entryway makes your guests feel welcome right as they step through the door. Look for enough space here to fit a bench so your guests can comfortably take off and store their shoes. A console table is another great element to add in if the space allows. It creates an area where garlands, candles or other seasonal decor can be displayed.

4. Spacious mantel

Nothing creates the perfect holiday atmosphere quite like a crackling fire but if you’re looking for the perfect entertainer’s fireplace check out the size of the mantle. A spacious and sturdy mantle is prime real estate for seasonal decor. You can hang stockings, arrange garlands and candles, and even include some mischievous little elves!

5. Finished basement

A finished basement might not be high on your list for the perfect entertainer’s home but it can be a great feature to have during a party. It can provide a play area for the kids, be used as a bar or game room, and better yet if it comes with a suite for your guests to stay over!

A Christmas Miracle
Everest was treated at SickKids just prior to the Christmas holidays. Three days after his operation, I was able to take him down to the Atrium of the hospital to look at all the decorated trees and listen to the carollers. After all the stress and worry surrounding his admittance to SickKids and the surgery that followed, being able to stand there with him curled up in my arms and experience a little bit of the holiday spirit … a little bit of normalcy; I have never appreciated a moment so much. And when Dr. Dirks shared the wonderful news that our son would be discharged so that he could celebrate his first Christmas at home … it was a Christmas miracle for us.”

Why We Give to SickKids

Born, grew up, and now raising my own daughter right here in Toronto, I have so many lasting memories of SickKids Hospital.

As one of the best children's hospitals in the world, SickKids has been fighting for kid's health since 1875. With over 80,000 emergency visits and more than 12,000 operations a year, so many families and lives have been touched upon by SickKids. On top of that, SickKids is also a leading research institute in children's health. The invention of Pablum. The first successful separation of conjoined twins. The first kidney transplant from a living donor. Discovering the gene responsible for cystic fibrosis.

From lab benches to bedsides, the health care and scientific advances are only made possible with generous donations. The Boiron Group is on a mission to raise $25,000 to help The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) continue their fight. For every referral we receive, a significant portion of our commission goes to SickKids. So, your referrals really do help the children!
