Untitled design.png

In the 1950s, The chance of a kid with cystic fibrosis living past five, he says, is 50/50. Plus, the short lives kids do have are mostly miserable. Long stretches in hospitals, and a near-endless chain of inhalers and antibiotics and terrible lung infections. Today, things are a lot different.

One SickKids patient, Mac Robertson, isn’t just surviving, he’s thriving. Mac is 14 now, but he has been a CF patient at SickKids since he was only 18 months. He’s a strong, six-foot teenager. He plays elite baseball. He's one hundred and sixty five pounds. He's a big boy. He's very healthy.

When he was interviewed by the reporter at SickKids, he said: " Sometimes, I'm gonna be honest, I forget I even have it. It's like when I'm doing something with my friends, I just don't pay attention to it at all."

He still needs to be careful about his meds. But his quality of life? His health? They’re both amazing.

But why is that? How did we get from the grim reality of the 1950’s to Mac Robertson? And what does SickKids have to do with it? Find out the full story here.

Why We Give to SickKids

Born, grew up, and now raising my own daughter right here in Toronto, I have so many lasting memories of SickKids Hospital.

As one of the best children's hospitals in the world, SickKids has been fighting for kid's health since 1875. With over 80,000 emergency visits and more than 12,000 operations a year, so many families and lives have been touched upon by SickKids. On top of that, SickKids is also a leading research institute in children's health. The invention of Pablum. The first successful separation of conjoined twins. The first kidney transplant from a living donor. Discovering the gene responsible for cystic fibrosis.

From lab benches to bedsides, the health care and scientific advances are only made possible with generous donations. The Boiron Group is on a mission to raise $25,000 to help The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) continue their fight. For every referral we receive, a significant portion of our commission goes to SickKids. So, your referrals really do help the children!
